[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju Dongbu Office of Education announced on the 24th that it has completed the Azit Project "Dreaming Classroom Project," which reconfigured four second-grade classrooms at Gakhwa Elementary School into autonomous classroom spaces.
The classroom spaces were designed under the theme of spatial innovation called "Separately, Yet Together," securing separate spaces desired by each class and reorganizing them into collaborative and communicative spaces where second-grade students can work together.
Additionally, to reduce the face-to-face distance between students and teachers, the direction of class progress and spatial structure were also changed.
Attics and cluster houses were created so that students can use them as spaces for cooperation and communication, and folding doors were installed between classrooms to be used as reading spaces normally and as open spaces during grade-level activities.
This spatial innovation is the result of changes in space led by the cooperation of school members through last year's Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education consulting, student-led idea collection, and spatial innovation T/F meetings.
The Dongbu Office of Education has completed the school space reconfiguration projects at Gakhwa Elementary and Gwangju Dongwoon Elementary, and plans to proceed additionally with five schools including Gwangju Hyodong Elementary.
Kim Cheol-ho, Superintendent of Dongbu Office of Education, said, "We will do our best to create an educational environment where students participate and create through the school space reconfiguration project."
