[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] It will soon be possible to book KTX train tickets directly through Naver and KakaoT.

Korea Railroad Corporation announced on the 31st that starting from 10 a.m. on the 1st of next month, the ticket reservation service, which has been provided through the mobile app ‘KorailTalk’, will be expanded to be available on the ‘Naver’, ‘Naver Map’, and ‘KakaoT’ apps.

At that time, Naver and KakaoT members will be able to book train tickets even if they are not railroad members or do not use KorailTalk.

This service is expected to improve convenience as most users of Naver and KakaoT are usually logged in, allowing non-railroad members to easily issue online train tickets without separate registration procedures or app installation.

The Naver train ticket reservation service is provided through the ‘Naver’ and ‘Naver Map’ apps. By entering keywords related to train tickets such as ‘KTX’ or ‘train ticket reservation’ in the Naver app search bar, users can move to the ticket reservation screen, set departure and arrival stations, check train timetables, select seats, and make payments. Tickets issued through this process can be checked in the ‘My Reservations’ menu of the Naver app.

Also, in the ‘Naver Map’ app, users can access the ticket reservation screen by clicking the newly added ‘Train Inquiry & Reservation’ menu, then selecting ‘Train Inquiry & Reservation’ from the full menu.

Kakao’s train ticket reservation service is provided through the ‘KakaoT’ app. Users can access the newly added ‘Train’ menu in the KakaoT app to book tickets.

The train ticket reservation service via Naver and KakaoT is introduced to expand the non-face-to-face ticket reservation system, allowing non-railroad members to purchase tickets on familiar online platforms they already use.

Son Byeong-seok, CEO of Korea Railroad Corporation, said, “We will strengthen collaboration with platforms used by the majority of the public such as Naver and Kakao to enhance convenience for railroad users and continuously expand non-face-to-face online services.”
