3 Experience Centers (Inwangsan, Baengnyeonsan, Baengnyeonsan Maebawi) Scheduled to Open on March 15... Recruiting Kindergartens and Daycare Centers for Weekly Regular Use (Feb 1?3)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 26th that three local forest experience centers for young children (Inwangsan, Baekryeonsan, Baekryeonsan Maebawi) will open on March 15 and operate for about nine months until the end of the year.
These centers are popular among children as they provide interesting natural experiences that help strengthen both mind and body and enhance the spirit of challenge.
The district will recruit kindergartens and daycare centers in the area to use these experience centers once a week on designated days and times.
Based on one experience center, six classes (three morning classes and three afternoon classes) are operated each day from Monday to Friday, totaling 30 classes, allowing 30 kindergartens and daycare centers to participate.
The morning classes start at 10 a.m., and the afternoon classes start at 1 p.m., each lasting about three hours. Each class can accommodate up to 25 participants, but this may be adjusted if social distancing measures are strengthened.
Kindergartens and daycare centers wishing to participate can download the application form from the ‘Notices and Announcements’ section on the Seodaemun-gu Office website, fill it out, and submit it in person at the Green City Division Park Planning Team of the district office or by mail between February 1 and 3.
When applying, institutions can choose between the ‘Basic Forest’ class, where a ‘Forest Instructor for Young Children’ from the experience center accompanies and guides the children, and the ‘Autonomous Forest’ class, where teachers from the respective institution lead children who have previously experienced forest activities.
If multiple institutions apply for the same day and time, selection will be made by public lottery.
The centers are open to everyone on weekends and public holidays, but group use requires a reservation.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “In the new year, I hope the forest experience centers for young children will be loved even more as spaces that contribute to the holistic growth of children through interaction with nature in the urban environment.”
