Tried Galaxy Buds Pro... Improved Sound Quality, Call Quality, and Waterproofing
Conversation Mode Lets You Hear Surroundings While Speaking and Silences for 10 Seconds
Wind Noise Reduced for Clearer Ambient Sound and Call Voice
The Galaxy Buds Pro are smart wireless earbuds that deliver sound suited to the situation when you want to focus or have a conversation. Even while wearing them and listening to music, the volume lowers automatically the moment you start speaking, so you don’t need to take the earbuds out. They have overcome all the shortcomings of the previous model in terms of sound quality, water resistance, and call quality.
The earbuds of the Galaxy Buds Pro feature a glossy, sleek design with a canal-type (in-ear) fit that maximizes the active noise cancelling function. When slightly twisted to wear, they fit snugly in the ear and don’t get in the way when putting on or taking off a mask. The ear caps are thinner than those of other products, reducing discomfort even after long use. They stay securely in place even when running, and the water resistance rating has been improved to IPX7 compared to the previous model. This means you can wear them without worrying about water damage during rain or exercise.
With a single tap on the Galaxy Buds Pro, you can play music, and a long press toggles the noise cancelling function on or off. To hear ambient sounds, just press and hold once. Compared to earlier products like the Galaxy Buds Plus, the ambient sound mode has been greatly improved, reducing harsh wind noise and making it more practical. Call quality outdoors has also improved. No one asked if the user was wearing earbuds, and feedback indicated that speech was clearly audible even when wearing a mask during calls. This is thanks to one of the three microphones removing background noise and the ‘windshield’ technology, applied for the first time in the Galaxy Buds series, which blocks wind noise.
When speaking with 'Conversation Mode' activated on the Galaxy Buds Pro, the microphone picks up the spoken voice, and the sensor recognizes lip movements, reducing the music volume and allowing ambient sounds to be heard for 10 seconds.
To use the Conversation Detection mode, activate ‘Conversation Detection’ in the Galaxy Wearable app. When you start speaking while listening to music through the earbuds, the volume lowers for 10 seconds and ambient sounds are let in, making it convenient. Samsung Electronics explained, "This is because the microphone embedded in the earbuds detects the voice and the sensor detects vibrations near the mouth." Currently, the Galaxy Buds Pro app is not supported on iPhones, so this feature is only available on Galaxy devices.
Additionally, by enabling the ‘Seamless Earbud Switching’ feature, if you are watching a video on a Galaxy Tab and receive a call on your Galaxy S21, the earbuds will switch immediately to the call. After the call ends, it reconnects to the tablet video. The battery specifications are up to 5 hours of playback with ANC activated, and up to 18 hours with charging via the case. When ANC is off, playback lasts up to 8 hours, and up to 28 hours in total.
The Galaxy Buds Pro are the most expensive wireless earbuds released by Samsung Electronics. They cost 239,800 KRW, 40,000 KRW more than the previous model. This price reflects the addition of improved features such as sound quality, call quality, and conversation mode. Even compared to competitor products priced in the 320,000 KRW range, their performance is not inferior.
