[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Singer and painter Solbi addressed the cake plagiarism controversy.

On the 13th, MBC entertainment show 'Radio Star' featured Son Beom-su, Jeon Jin, Solbi, and Chan-hee as guests.

On this day, the MCs brought up Solbi's pre-interview comment, "It seems like I appear when Radio Star wants to gain strength," saying, "It seems Solbi has been going through a tough time lately."

Solbi opened up, saying, "I have been at the center of attention these days."

Tak Jae-hoon asked, "What kind of attention?" and Kim Gu-ra explained, "At the end of the year, Solbi made a cake herself, which resembled a work by Jeff Koons, a master of contemporary art. Solbi paid homage to it, but since she did not disclose that, a plagiarism controversy arose."

Solbi responded, "That's correct," adding, "I thought that whatever I do from now on, I should do it with gravity and responsibility."

Earlier, on the 22nd of last month, Solbi posted on her Instagram, "These days, due to social distancing, I have been deeply immersed in making cakes in the bakery," along with, "I tried making this cake in my own way. Is it too experimental? I also take orders," sharing photos of the cake-making process and the finished cake.

However, this cake resembled 'Play-Doh,' one of the works by American contemporary artist Jeff Koons, sparking a plagiarism controversy.

Subsequently, on the 31st of last month, Solbi posted a lengthy statement along with the photo of the cake involved in the plagiarism controversy.

In the post, Solbi wrote, "The year 2020 was a year full of wounds and pain for most people living in the COVID-19 era," adding, "The cake's appearance, which is unstable, wounded, and incomplete, unlike its glamorous exterior, is a portrait of modern people who experienced 2020."
