'Ready Bag Crisis' Continues at Hollys Coffee... Early Sell-Out of 'Folding Cart'


[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] At Hollys Coffee, the 'Starbucks Ready Bag Craze' has been reenacted.


According to industry sources on the 10th, the 'Multi Folding Cart' introduced as a summer promotion product by Hollys Coffee the day before sold out early within a few hours.


The Multi Folding Cart, launched as the third summer promotion product by Hollys Coffee this year, is made of sturdy and durable materials, making it a multi-purpose product that can be used not only for camping or picnics but also for carrying luggage or holding plenty of items when grocery shopping. The product features an attractive pink exterior that brightly lights up the surroundings and includes a lid, allowing it to be easily unfolded and folded anywhere to be used as a table.


The selling price is 31,000 KRW, but if you purchase food or beverages worth more than 10,000 KRW at Hollys Coffee regardless of the item, you can buy it for 11,900 KRW. The purchase quantity is limited to a maximum of two per person.


As of 7 a.m., checking the Hollys Coffee app shows that out of 579 Hollys Coffee stores nationwide, only seven stores have the Multi Folding Cart remaining. The remaining quantity at each store is less than five.


Given this situation, posts expressing frustration about not being able to get the folding cart despite lining up from dawn are appearing one after another on social networking services (SNS). On a mom cafe, a post said, "I lined up from 6:45 a.m., but people ahead took two each, so I couldn't get the Multi Folding Cart," adding, "What is Hollys... Hollys Craze."


Another netizen said, "I lined up from 7:40 a.m. but came up empty," and "I've come up empty at three places already. I've just been standing for hours." Other posts include, "Passing by the 24-hour Hollys, there were over 50 people lined up at 12:10 a.m.," and "The place I went to only received eight Multi Folding Carts, so it was a wasted trip."


Regarding this, Hollys Coffee stated, "Inventory status by store can be checked in the event category of the Hollys Coffee app," but added, "However, since inventory status changes in real time, there may be differences from the app's guidance." Hollys Coffee plans to continue selling the product until all stock is sold out.


Meanwhile, Hollys Coffee’s ‘Lifestyle Item’ products were created in collaboration with ‘Highbrow,’ operated by actor Lee Cheon-hee and his brother, architect Lee Se-hee. These products can be purchased at a reasonable price when buying over 10,000 KRW regardless of the item, with a purchase limit of two per person. The ‘Relax Chair and Parasol Set’ and ‘Big Cooler Bag’ products, which were sequentially introduced since last month, showed explosive popularity on SNS and communities immediately after their release.
