[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 22nd that it has applied for an arrest warrant for A (25) on charges of kidnapping, confinement, assault, and robbery, after allegedly ordering the kidnapping, confinement, assault, and extortion of money from a family member of an acquaintance with whom he previously operated a prostitution business.
A is accused of ordering accomplices to kidnap B's older brother in front of a motel in Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 10 p.m. on August 15 last year, assaulting and threatening him, and extorting 1.3 million won.
A and B are known to have previously operated a prostitution business together.
According to the investigation, A committed this act after B opened a separate business and began to prosper.
The three accomplices, acting under A's orders, reportedly forced a minor to engage in prostitution and used this as leverage to summon B's brother, who was helping B's business, then assaulted him indiscriminately and threatened to report the prostitution.
After B transferred 1.3 million won as a ransom for releasing his brother, the accomplices took his mobile phone and then released him.
The three accomplices have already been arrested or have had arrest warrants requested.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the case and the motive behind the crime.
